Nettle tea

26.05.2013
We recommend you make tea from the young leaves of nettles. You can go to the countryside to get them with scissors and a basket.

Cut off the leaves of young nettles, but let the nettle itself grow. You can wear gloves, or perhaps it is even better to take kitchen tongs to avoid being stung by individual leaves. At home, you can put the nettle leaves into an airtight bowl, they will stay fresh for longer, even a little over a week. When you make tea, open the airtight bowl and using kitchen tongs take out about a handful of leaves for one person. Put them in a sieve and rinse under warm running water to clean any dust or dirt off the nettle leaves. Put the young nettle leaves into a porcelain kettle or large mug. Pour on some hot water and leave to infuse for 10-15 min. Drink 2-3 cups of this fresh tea daily. If you drink two litres you won't do any damage to yourself. You should drink this tea for about a month. That is when young nettles start to grow. This year the nettles are growing later. This drink cleanses your body and at the same time it helps to change your environment from acid to alkaline. It is very beneficial after a long winter full of steaks. It adds a lot of minerals and vitamins to your body. For children it is a good idea to add syrup to make them into a drink, making them very tasty.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

You can also use cut young nettle leaves and use them as a stuffing - there are a lot of recipes.
